Peppernuts or peppernuts - what is the exact situation?

Although our name suggests otherwise, our factory does indeed make peppernuts. The name peppernut is the original name of the cookie - and the collective name for all variants, including the peppernut.
The distinction arose around the 1970s, when people started calling the version with more spices kruidpepernoot.
At Van Delft we stick to the charming name peppernut - the popular name that appears in many Sinterklaas songs and is full of nostalgia.
